tell KATE MINOGUE what you need to watch out for when choosing a salon
A good beauty
salon is a haven. It is clean and calm and your therapist anticipates
your every need. However, we’ve all heard horrible tales of wonky
eyebrow shaping, bruised and sore skin after waxing, and loud, aggravating
music.
Judit Korner, principal of the Madame Korner Beauty Colleges and Salons,
says the best recommendations are usually those that come from friends.
"I think if you go into a salon that looks inviting and they greet
you cheerfully and they know what they are talking about when they give
you a consultation then you’re on the right track," Korner
says.
They key to being a good beauty therapist, she says, is being considerate:
"Clients tend to be shy before a body massage. It’s all these
sensitive little issues that you train your staff in that are very important."
Madame Korner opened in Australia in 1951 and launched the nation’s
first Professional Beauty Training School in 1953.
